Decline In Davolee And YBNL Princess, Temmie Ovwasa’s Music Career, A Slap On YBNL’s Face
During the reign of the likes of Lil
Kesh, Adekunle Gold,
and Chinko
Ekun as YBNL acts, the record label was among the A-list
record labels in Nigeria alongside MAVIN, MMM and
a host others.
After the exit of YBNL pioneer signees in
2016, it’s becoming too obvious that the record label is losing her value as
regards positive influence in the career of newbies signed onto the label.
In April 2016, the first YBNL female
artiste, Temmie Ovwasa fondly called YBNL
Princess was signed barely one week after Lil
kesh publicly parted ways with YBNL.
Her acceptance by the entire YBNL fan base
and other music lovers was so spontaneous that she was already a superstar even
before she released her debut single, “Jabole”
in May 2016.
Meanwhile,
the last time any music material was attributed to Temmie was October 2016 when
she dropped her second official single “Afefe“.
With her efforts on the song, many entertainment platforms were tempted to
place her on the top spot of artistes to watch out for in 2017.
It’s
already 11th month of the year, not even a single
track has been heard from YBNL Princess. This
sudden career decline, if not total shutdown still remains a misery to many. No
one saw it coming.
With
little or no success from Temmie‘s contract, YBNL boss, Olamide went
ahead to sign another young talented Indigenous Rapper, Davolee early
this year. With only one official single so far, “Festival Bar”
which was his debut.
However, it
seems Davolee and Temmie Ovwasa are suffering the same faith.
If
the hustle of both Temmie Ovwasa and Davolee before
signing to YBNL is anything to go by, then it will be unfair to question their
ability in making music.
What then could be responsible
for their inconsistency?
So,
does it mean YBNL has
joined the league of those record label that will sign artistes and not cater
for them in the long-run? You know the Labels, No need mentioning names
here
Come
to think of it, the year is going to an end and no YBNL act apart from the boss, Olamide seems to be a contender for any award
category.
